Human suffering is something that everyone goes through. Everyone suffers. But Animals suffer as well and is our suffering worse than theirs? Does the fact that we suffer matter more than the fact that they suffer? Or is it just a fact of life. There is suffering.
Humans experiment on animals to try and relive their suffering. They test new medicines, new vaccines on animals such as mice. This, to some extent, benefits us as it reduces our suffering. However, it is very wrong to put other creatures through pain just to stop us from feeling it. We, in the end, are mammals. Much the same as apes, elephants and even mice. We respire, we grow, and we give birth.
Christianity says, however, that humans were set aside by God. In genesis it says that we were created in the image of God and he breathed life into us- giving us a soul. This sets us apart from the animals and we have “dominion over animals” – quote the Bible.
This argument depends on whether you believe in God and the Bible. I personally, do not and think that if we wrote it then of course we must have said we are the most important thing and matter most. I think that in the end human suffering is not all that important and should not be seen as something terrible.
